SPECIALTIES
In addition to
traditional physical therapy techniques, we also offer the
following specialty therapies:
Aquatic
Therapy
Aquatic
therapy uses the assistive forces of buoyancy and
hydrostatic pressure along with the concept of variable
resistance to create a comfortable healing environment.
Patients of varied activity levels from the severely
deconditioned to the competitive athlete can benefit from
aquatic therapy. Both shallow and deep water exercises can
be used to create therapeutic opportunities that are
extremely challenging as well as soothing and relaxing. The
aquatic environment can be utilized for a broad range of
orthopedic and neurologic dysfunction. Aquatic therapy is
particularly useful for patients with weight-bearing
restrictions, lower extremity fractures, status post lower
extremity surgeries (e.g., ACL reconstruction), total joint
replacements/reconstructions, and low back pain.
Burdenko
Method of Water and Sports Therapy
The Burdenko Method is a progression of functional exercises
using land and water as a modality for treatment. These
exercises enhance conditioning, increase neurophysiological
efficiency, and help hasten the healing process. Using a
variety of techniques that focus on educating the patient,
we can achieve recovery, as well as prevent injuries or
complications, while insuring future well-being.
Manual
Therapy
Integrated
manual therapy is a whole body approach to physical therapy
that is individually tailored to each patient. This approach
uses hands-on techniques to affect a change in a person's
alignment, to elongate tissue, and/or to relax tight
structures. Integrated manual therapy includes a broad range
of techniques including myofascial release, craniosacral
therapy, and visceral mobilization.
Myofascial
Release
Myofascial
release is a very gentle treatment approach that works to
free areas of tension in the fascia or connective tissue
surrounding internal structures to help return them to a
more functional position. This can lead to decreased pain,
improved mobility, and increased overall fuction of the
body.
Craniosacral
Therapy
Craniosacral
therapy uses very light forces on the bones of the head,
neck and tailbone to realign tight areas of the cranial
membranes. This will redirect fluid flow and decompress
structures such as nerves and brain tissue. Craniosacral
Therapy can be used in the treatment of many orthopedic and
neurologic dysfunction.
Visceral
Mobilization
Visceral
mobilization uses specific forces to encourage normal
mobility and tone of the visceral system. The visceral
system is the connective tissue surrounding each of the
vital organs in the human body. When there are restrictions
in this system, musculoskeletal and neurologic dysfunction
can result.
Vestibular
Rehabilitation
Back
on Track's Vestibular Rehabilitation program integrates
manual therapy with habituation exercises for a holistic
approach to treating vestibular dysfunction.
Low
Back Pain
Our
clinical focus on low back pain is a multi-faceted approach
utilizing integrated manual techniques to address the
underlying dysfunction in the joints, muscles, and ligaments
of the spine. This is coupled with individualized exercise
programs to return to activities of daily living. By first
addressing the anatomical dysfunction with manual
techniques, the return to a more active lifestyle is safer,
more comfortable, and longer lasting.
Pain
Management
By
utilizing a balanced treatment program including manual
therapy and aquatic therapy with progressive resistance
exercise, we are able to work with complicated pain patients
in order to break the pain cycle.
